Pink or Blue????

We are having another boy! We just had our appointment yesterday & we are very excited!  I told Cole before we left that we were going to find out whether he was having a sister or brother...and he said, 'Brother?'.  I guess he was either hoping for a little brother, or had a gut feeling. :o) This one is not very modest...we found out within the first two minutes of the ultrasound that he was a boy!  The doc says that everything looks good, so now it's just a waiting game!

Good times!

Here are a few pictures of Cole being a ham! He LOVES to wear his hats & makes sure he has one on before we leave the house...but he loves his sunglasses even more! He will wear them around inside for as long as we let him! Reading in his Elmo chair is one of Cole's fave activities...although he didn't seem to enjoy being interrupted by me!

I LOVE spaghetti!!!!

Need I say more?!?!?! It's not gone...is it???????

Let's go...fly a kite!

We thought this would be a perfect day to fly a kite...it seemed like the wind was constantly blowing...until we tried to get the kite in the air! Mike (& Cole) eventually got it going well, but it took some time! Cole and I sat down to have a snack, while we watched Mike do all the work! :o)

Lemonade, anyone??

Cole is already trying to perfect his lemonade skills...while I made some lemonade for us, Cole cooked up his own version. He had all the right ingredients, but he MAY need to work on it a bit before he takes his business on the road.

Cole...our budding artist!

Cole & I have been doing a bunch of little art projects recently...he loves it! He gets very into the projects & is usually pretty sad when they come to an end. Above are his first finger paintings & below are his first pieces of sand art. He got really into that & even started doing two colors at a time! :o)

Me...and my basketball!

For those of you who have been asking...here are my most recent 'prego' pictures (17 weeks in the top picture, 16 weeks below)! I'm 17 weeks along & we'll (hopefully!) find out next week whether we need to buy pink or blue! I'm already quite a bit larger than I was at this point with Cole...so I will be a HOUSE by the end of my pregnancy! I can't imagine my belly being stretched any more than it was last time, so it should be interesting! :o)

Happy Birthday, Mike!! :o)

We had a picnic on Gooseberry Beach as part of my belated birthday present...but since it was the weekend before Mike's birthday, Cole & I gave him his mask & snorkel a bit early. Gooseberry Beach is probably one of the most beautiful beaches I've seen...but the water was cold & there was a lot of 'red tide', so I didn't even go swimming! It's in a cove, so there are no waves...but you can wade/swim out to some large rocks & climb around. It was a beautiful afternoon!

Labor Day weekend!

We had a great Labor Day weekend...our friends, Jen & Brian, came up for a visit!! We managed to squeeze a ton of stuff in, but we still made time to kick back & relax. Jen, Brian & I did a 'behind-the-scenes' tour of The Elms...the top picture is on top of The Elms (you can see Fort Adams behind my head). We grabbed some lunch at the famous Flo's Clam Shack near First Beach...the sign reads something like 'Voted #1 in Rhode Island, Voted #1 in the USA, now #1 in the World'...so if you ever find yourself in Rhode Island, you better grab some grub there! We hiked along the Cliff Walk, kicked around downtown, searched for sea glass on our rock beach...it was a fantastic visit!

Aunt Doris & Uncle Nick's Visit

Aunt Doris & Uncle Nick were able to visit a few weekends ago...it was a short visit, but we had a great time with them! Cole was able to show them his latest 'party tricks' at the playground...and Mike & Uncle Nick had a few of their own! Mike & I were able to go out to dinner ALONE, which doesn't happen very often! On our way to brunch on Sunday, we took a leisurely drive around Ocean Drive & stopped at Brenton Point to snap a few photos.

Jimmy Buffett!!

Ryan & Jennie also visited in August. We had a great visit with them & we all went to the Newport Folk Festival while they were here. The headliner concert (on the day we went) was Jimmy Buffett! It was fantastic! It was a bit hot that day, though, so we were all wishing we had a boat...all the 'boat people' got to listen to the 2-day long concert for free, while they cooled off in the water! We weren't complaining too much, though...the Folk Festival was held at Fort Adams, so we just had to walk over from our house. No traffic!

Ready for the Olympics!

Cole got ready for the Olympics by making his own gold medal...we were doing well with the sequins until I walked away for a few seconds. When I came back to the table, the sequins were everywhere BUT on the table! Serves me right. :o)
I made the torch for Cole, but he kept smelling it...he thought it was a flower. I guess I have two more years to practice making torches that LOOK like torches! Every Olympian needs a break now & then...so we stopped to check out the sheep on our walk home.

Andy's Visit

We were fortunate to have a bunch of visitors in the month of August. Our first guest was our friend Andy...he traveled all the way from Chicago! We hadn't seen him in a while, so it was great to catch up. We all tried to do a tour of the Breakers, the largest of the mansions in Newport...but Cole only lasted for the first 5 minutes or so. Mike & Andy took the tour, while Cole and I explored the grounds. :o) Mike & Andy also took a tour of a local winery & the Tennis Hall of Fame. On Andy's last night in town, he & Mike caught a game up at Fenway Park. Neither of them had been there before, so they had a great time!
