Father's Day 2008

We had a great family day on Father's Day, despite the gloomy weather. It rained on & off all day...so we stayed inside & kept our pjs on all day! We started out with a delicious breakfast of pancakes, sausage, eggs, oranges & bananas. Cole didn't like the pancakes & won't eat meat or eggs...so he had his own breakfast of waffles, fruit & cereal. Then we all curled up on the couch to watch Bee Movie. Cole sat with us (all cozy under the comforter with his snack cup & juice!) for almost the whole movie...he loved it! We just chilled the whole day!! Happy Father's Day!!

Beach bums!

A couple of weekends ago, we spent the morning on the little beach by our house. It's a small beach, but it's beautiful! Downtown Newport is right across the water from Fort Adams, so there are some great boats to check out. The water was COLD...but that didn't stop Cole from running in & doing a belly flop! It was a bit more than he bargained for...but he didn't seem to mind it! Mike braved the water, too. I took the pictures...from the beach!!! Oh...you want me to smile, again??? Here ya go!

Pool party!!!

Cecilia (Cole's girlfriend) invited Cole over for a pool party the other day. We need to work on the whole idea of a pool party...because neither of them stayed in the pool very long! We all had a good time, though. :o) Cole was not shy about taking over Cecilia's bike...and even ate the streamers right in front of her! It's a good thing she's smitten...she didn't seem to mind too much! Cole took a little spill on the patio...but Grover cheered him right up!! 'Caaaaaaaaaat!'

Hello??? Anyone there????

This is Cole 'talking' on the phone...he holds the phone on his back & makes fish lips. I guess this is how we look when we're talking on the phone??? I guess that's ok...as long as we don't look like this when we're outside of our home!!!

The Great Chair Incident of '08!!!

Soooo...I left to run some errands & to get a haircut…about 20 minutes or so after I left, Mike called and said (all out of breath) that he just had to saw our dining room chair apart to get Cole’s head out!!!!! Cole had been playing on his stool & looking out the window…and then Mike saw him over by the chairs. He wasn’t climbing on them or anything (not allowed, due to the chair-surfing), so Mike let him play. Mike then heard some grunts and then Cole started yelling, “Guck! Guck!” (translation: Stuck! Stuck!) Mike checked it out & Cole’s head was, indeed, completely stuck between the slats on the chair…Mike had no idea how he got it in there in the first place. Thoughts of 911, the fire department, butter & mayo ran through Mike’s head…but he realized that desperate times called for desperate measures…and ran upstairs to get his wood saw! Although Cole was crying & pretty panicked, Mike said that he stayed still while he sawed the chair apart…it was like Cole just knew that Dad was trying to help him. Cole came out of the ordeal with some red ears & marks on his head, Mike came out relieved, and our chair…well, we now have a 5–chair dining room set. :o)

Memorial Day

Although we enjoyed the time we spent with family on Memorial Day weekend, my grandpa was in the hospital the whole time we were in town. We did get to visit him every day, but he was greatly missed at home. He is now in a rehab hospital for a while & we're hoping that he will be home by the time we visit again in a few weeks. Please send your prayers and positive thoughts his way.

Trexler Park

Luckily, we had beautiful weather while we were in PA. We took advantage of it and took a stroll around Trexler Park...while Mike ran! Cole couldn't get enough of his Cheerios on our walk. When we got back to the parking lot, he was excited to find some on the ground that he had dropped earlier!

Lehigh Valley Zoo

Over Memorial Day weekend, we went down to PA to visit with my family. We took Cole to the Lehigh Valley Zoo (formerly, the Trexler Game Preserve) to check out the animals. He was thrilled to feed the goats..they were pretty eager eaters, so it made it that much more fun! Cole spent about the first 15 minutes in his stroller...but then he wanted his freedom! He may have been more interested in his snacks than the animals. He ate the entire time we were there!

Taking Inventory

This is one of Cole's favorite things to do...he clears out 'his' cabinets, so he can hang out in them. :o)
