Spiderman?

Cole's latest craze...chair surfing! We have had to make this little activity off-limits, because he gets a little out-of-control with it. We actually have a 'no chair' policy in our house now! :o) We would be going about our business & then hear various grunts, groans and cries for help...only to find Cole surfing on the chairs, under the table. He doesn't seem to mind the red welts on his head from banging it on the table...but we figured that there were some better ways he could spend his time!

Bbbbds, gogs, kicks, bips and gucks!

This is Cole's new favorite perch! He is a bit crazy about looking for birds, dogs, kids, ships and trucks...so we put his step by the windows & he spends quite a bit of time being a nosy neighbor! The window overlooks the playground, the parking lot & the water...so he has it made! He sometimes bangs on the window & gets people to wave at him. This morning, he even took his bowl of snacks & his book over to his perch...and checked on things until breakfast was ready. :o)

Norman Bird Sanctuary

We took advantage of the beautiful morning this past Sunday and went hiking at the Norman Bird Sanctuary. It is absolutely beautiful there! Since we have limited time on outings like this (Cole!), we only got to hike a couple of the trails...one took us out to a rock that overlooks Second Beach in Newport. It was a great place for a snack!

Our 5th Anniversary!!

Well, it's not until May 25, but we celebrated it already! We hadn't been out to dinner by ourselves since our last anniversary, so it was a treat! Our good friend, Mary, came over to watch Cole for us...it was the first time that someone put Cole to bed for us, so it was a big deal! As much as we enjoyed our night out, we found ourselves sharing a bunch of Cole stories. :o) We went to the White Horse Tavern in Newport for a fantastic dinner & then saw Forgetting Sarah Marshall...it was the first movie we saw in well over a year! Thanks, Mary!!!

Club Sprouts

We heard about a little gym for kids up here called Club Sprouts & checked it out the other day. Cole has an irresistible urge to climb...except when he's allowed to do it. :o) We thought he could burn off some energy by climbing on all the equipment...but he preferred to sit in the ball pit & chew on a jump rope instead. Oh, well! He still had fun!

Cecilia's 1st Birthday!

Cole's girlfriend, Cecilia, turned ONE at the beginning of May! We celebrated with her at her house and had some yummy ladybug cupcakes. Cecilia seemed to enjoy her big night! Cole was all-business, as usual..but told us later that he had a blast!

Providence Children's Museum

On a recent rainy day, we headed up to the Providence Children's Museum with Cole. We have NO IDEA what this crazy stuffed woman is supposed to be...but we can't blame Cole for not wanting to spend any time on her lap. :o) Cole kept getting 'guck' (stuck) on purpose. It's always a fun game!

And the winner is....

On May 4, Mike completed his first half-marathon! He ran the Willow Tree Half Marathon in Providence, RI and finished in 2:05:44! The forecast was showing thunderstorms all morning, so Cole and I weren't planning on going. At the last minute, we decided to go anyway and ended up surprising Mike around mile 9. It gave him a little boost! The weather cooperated, so Mike did not have to run between any lightning bolts after all. Go, Mike!! :o)

Mother's Day 2008

What a fantastic Mother's Day! The day began with a delicious brunch...mimosas, ham & cheese omelets, toast, coffee & bananas! After Cole's LONG nap, We went for a short hike at Ballard Park, near Fort Adams.

Cole had a great time running around the park...and trying to eat everything in sight.
